Rubber Gloves is a cement factory turned live music venue, bar, and rehearsal studios. We opened our doors in April 1997 simply renting rehearsal rooms for local bands in Denton. Following the closing of The Argo, Rubber Gloves stepped up and filled the need of a live music venue in the college town home to the University of North Texas. The first show was a benefit concert featuring Denton locals, The Sillies, in June 1997.
Since then, we've hosted shows by everyone from Modest Mouse to Jonathan Richman, from Melt Banana to Daniel Johnston including several shows on our outdoor stage before the city shut that option down. Today, Rubber Gloves is stronger than ever thanks to low cover charges, lack of attitude, and dedicated regulars that make the complex such a success.
