Queen City Independent is the musical superego of Brian McKinney and Brice Griffin. In early 2005, Brian wrote some slanderous things about Charlotte's music scene in Creative Loafing and he was received with skepticism and appall! One lone Charlottean approached Brian with a question... 'Why not do something about it?' And so Queen City Independent took root. Brian and Brice started to hash out plans to put Charlotte on the map and try to revitalize the music scene. The community was there, though in isolated pockets almost invisible to the naked eye. With a lot of hard work and determination this website was developed and shows started to come together. Barely a two months later and QCI is booking and promoting indie shows for 3 clubs in Charlotte. QCI operates on a motto stolen from a Connecticut band, 'If we whisper all together we can say something that matters.' - The Weigh Down
