richard's influences include Jane's Addition, Radiohead, and Quicksand. The bands music has been described by the Providence Journal as 'an offshoot of 'heavy pop' that is neither aggressive nor menacing.' The Providence Journal also stated that “richard is accessible because the band emphasizes melody” while comparing richard to the “emerging metal band Sevendust.” When asked, richard categorizes their music style as 'just heavy rock.'

richard recorded their self-titled four-song demo at Danger Studio in Providence. The CD was engineered and co-produced by Joe Moody. richard is currently working on their upcoming EP tentatively titled, 'Or Will It Shine.'
