Makel's sound is completely distinct and bravely new. Memorable song melodies are supported by the bands solid musical ability. They have effectively been able to merge pop and rock with a singer/songwriter mentality and deliverance unmatched by any of their contemporaries. In their songs, the listener will always find an ever-present yet different emotion. Makel's musical versatility is another of its unique attributes. The ability for the band to play its music in either full electric or acoustic format without losing the slightest bit of integrity has paved the way for many more venue opportunities. They truly are a band that feels at home on the stage. Simply put, you could say that Makel has one purpose; to create music that inspires, excites, and moves its listeners. In September 2004, Makel's song We Were Once Confused was nominated as a finalist for VH1 sponsored Song of the Year.com. Makel has just recently won the Mohegan Sun Battle of the Bands and in January of 2006, played 4 consecutive nightly shows at the Wolf's Den at Mohegan Sun. They have also been reviewed by Music Connection magazine and the New Haven Advocate. In February of 2006, Rolling Stone magazine selected Makel and 3 other bands to compete in a national competition sponsored by Ford Fusion. The band's bio and photo were featured in the March 2006 edition of Rolling Stone. The band is currently looking to expand the reach of their music through various movie, television, soundtrack, and compilation opportunities such as their featured spot on a national compilation at this years 2005 Warped Tour.
