I like to think of myself as the *anti-folksinger's songwriter say's songsmith Ken Ledbetter. Hailing from Greenville, SC his music blends both southern narrative and train of thought surreal. The new songs from his soon to be CD have been compared to the sounds of such bands as The Pixies, Matthew Sweet, The Silos and The Breeders.
With a scheduled release of his 1st solo CD due out in Spring 2002 Ken will be taking his vehicle band The Ledbetters on the road to promote this new collection of songs. They will be visiting various cities in the southeast presenting this CD with local radio, record stores and printed media promotion.
Ken started writing songs at age 17 while in college and soon found local support from local musicians and fans alike. While in school Ken's music was featured while playing in a local band and enjoying the honor of having his music performed by a campus musical production. In 1991 Ken moved to Atlanta Ga. to further hone his songwriting skills while playing in the bands Local Color and Woodlore. A moved to Columbia SC in 1995 had Ken fronting a new band, Flatland 2 Step.
Now living in upstate South Carolina Ken is completing his 1st CD recording in his home studio and plans to release this disc on his own label, ID10T Records. I want people to hear my music and realize that being a singer/songwriter doesn?t have to be about hugging tree's or saving the planet but can be fun and most importantly it can rock!. An anti-folksinger's folksinger indeed. *What is 'anti-folk'? It is a form of alternative acoustic music that moves to wrest acoustic music from the James Taylor crowd and infuse it with a punk sensibility.
