Jason Bawden (alias aJay) was born in Griffith N.S.W. in 1976. At age 12 Jason started singing and playing guitar and soon after, began his first attempts at writing. He then established himself as a singer/songwriter all by the age of 17. With Griffith offering little in the way of a future in the music industry, Jason moved to Sydney to attend university to study Bachelor of Arts music in 1995 and to try and make a name for himself. Jason's audience has been growing steadily, especially since becoming the artist 'aJay' in 2001 with many describing his style of music as a mixture of Jeff Buckley, Soundgarden, Tea Party and a touch of Silverchair.aJay started playing solo acoustic gigs in 2001 and has gone from strength to strength. He is a regular at various venues around Sydney and now is complemented with a full band and has even reach the airwaves on many local radio stations.
The following comments are from the results of market reserch regarding aJay's debut EP 'Now We're Here'.All is good I believe this artist has a lot of talent. I enjoyed the BIG guitar sound. Pretty good overall. Nice playing around with the time signatures in D.O.A.N.This is not generally my type of music but overall it was generally and enjoyable experience, reminds me of Creed. The voice sounds like the singer from Live. It's all good. Strong guitar mixed well and love the gravel in the vocal. Got some solid work here, would love to hear it played live. Really like the movement from verse to chorus in I'm yours now. The lyrics are meaningful and make sense, unlike some other people who are too worried about rhyming all the time. I'm thinking Days of the new, Silverchair, Pearl Jam, Live, Creed, Jeff Buckley, John Butler trio maybe, iOTA, Mick Hart etc…and maybe a bit of Garth Brooks country twang!!!! Very impressed, I want to buy the album. message from aJay:I have recently had some online sucess and sales through digital downloads not from my own site www.ajaymusic.com (if your interested) but throught www.bigpondmusic.com in Australia and www.digirama.co.nz in the land of thelong white cloud, if you in the states then my music is available from www.emusic.com, www.music.msn.com, and www.napster.comi'm pleased to have sold albums throught these online retailers.
