The Xenophilia name, music and compact disc all grew
from a collection of events experienced on a magical trip to Costa Rica.
The band's guitarists Joe Xeno and Hence adopted the name
when they found themselves in Costa Rica penniless and sometimes
without even a bed to sleep in. 'Xeno' being the local slang for spare
change, the two poverty stricken musicians took on the name 'Xenophilia'
while playing in local bars to raise money to get home.
At this time, Xenophilia also absorbed the ethos of the Latin
American musical rhythms and melodies which inspired a large portion of
the music on the CD. Places, events and life-learning experiences were put
into a musical medium and carried back home to the states. When the duo
arrived home, they were driven by their magical experience and expanded
the band and it's music to the present quartet which is featured on their
CD, Mellinium Bug Fix Kit
The name Mellinium Bug Fix Kit is also a play on words meaning 'Rich
Acoustics'. The band strives to keep their sound primarily acoustic, tonally
lavish and rich, as well as engaging to the ear. Xenophilia offer a
collection of eclectic music presented through an acoustic musical medium.
Their creatively improvisational sound is driven by exciting guitar, bass, smooth
melodic lines, unique arrangements and a full rhythm percussion section.
