Waterside Session
Band Biography

  • From: Morgantown, WV
  • No. of Members: 4
  • Year Established: 4

Waterside Session is an extremly original band with something very unique to offer the jam-band scene with thier expressive melodies, unpredictable changes, and vast array of original material.

Christopher Kasper, the bands guitarist/vocalist, started the band in 1997 under the name VeryFyne where they explored the possiblities of Kasper's music. After a few line up changes (and very interesting shows), the band was settled into a four piece. Alex Barone had been playing Heavy drums for about 13 yrs. His metronome like madness is only comparable to the likes of the great John Bohnam but he is also capapble of the ever sweet soft rythms that gives W.S's signiture grooves.

Through jamming at Alex's house the early years, the two picked up Alex's brother Michael Barone, a music major at WVU studying piano, and woodwinds. His classical theory gives an expression neglected by most jam-improv bands. Mike is basically a walking insturment and is an extremly versitile and accomplished musician. Bass player Shane Taylor, also a student at WVU, left the band shorlty after the recording of there debut CD, 'The Bubble Effect', to persue grad school.Bass players have basically come and gone with W.S. since then. It was not unlikley that one would see a Morgantown guitar player filling in on bass during a show. Shane's playing was hard to recreate and this was becoming a problem for the band. Recently, through much trial and error, the band picked up a Chicago bass man, Curtis Scott. Skilled in Wooten-like slaps, and a feel for improv, the band picked him up right away. Now re-established, the band is set on amazing thier audiance with thier music and keep them coming back for more.

Look for the band on MP3.com and look out for thier upcoming website. The band will start touring after the holidays so keep your eyes and ears open!
