Valhere is a three piece rock group from Portland, Or. Formed in late November 1994 by lead-singer and songwirter Andy Koontz, Randy Bowden (Bass/Vocals) and Mike VanYserloo (Drums). In the world of 'modern-rock' there are few bands that hold true to tradition of rock and roll. Valhere is one of them. From their radio-freindly song 'Almost got me' to the crunching guitars of 'Cold hard heart', Valhere has stayed on the cutting edge with a basic philosophy of 'Keep it simple!' In June 1997 Valhere entered the studio to begin recording a short 3 song 'promotional-demo' . After hitting a series of 'pot-holes' in the project they finally finished their recording, however, they were still unhappy with the end product. It was time to re-think the recording process. 'We just were never comfortable going over to some other guys place to record...we love to record, but none of the studios near us gave us a good vibe...and that's when it hit us...'- Andy Koontz (Vocals/Guitar) Taking on the challenge of constructing their own studio was not only a long process, but a tiring one as well. After thousands of dollars and hours the studio was ready for tracking. 'Determination is part of what Valhere is all about, without it we wouldn't go anywhere!'- Randy Bowden (Bass) For the next year they slammed out bass parts, guitar licks, and vocals, as well as playing scattered shows in the local area. In March 2000, they agreed to release their first project, a short 5 song EP titled, 'Instantly Promise!', with plans to release another EP in 2001 and their full length album, 'finally found me...' in October 2002. 'When you record an album, it becomes a living breathing thing, a part of you. And only that 'thing' knows when it's ready to be seen...until then, you have to nurture it and respect it for what it is...'- Andy Koontz (Vocals/Guitar) In September 2000, 'Instantly Promise!' hit record stores everywhere, so look out, here they come. With their own brand of infectious pop rock and roll, and energetic live shows, Valhere is one act that will dig at the heart and soul of who you are.
