Tramontane is the San Francisco/Bay Area’s premier power metal group. Forming in the late 80’s, the band immediately received positive press and held a strong fan base despite the rise of alternative music and lack of interest in Heavy Metal. Tramontane defiantly released recordings of their material and continued to gain a larger following with each new effort. Over the years, the Tramontane line-up has gone through many different changes while still keeping the same power and emotion their fans have come to expect. Founding members’ (guitarists, Michael Morris and John Antonioli) completed what they call the best Tramontane line-up to date by recruiting drummer Walter Massenkoff, vocalist Norman Skinner, and finally bassist John Naas. Each member brought with them to the band their own unique style and influence creating a new depth that was not present before. From the overwhelming responses the band received after performing the new material, the band was eager to get back into the studio and record what was to become their 1998 EP “December Dark”. In August of 98’, “December Dark” was made public and was welcomed with rave reviews. Tramontane’s song “Another Time” received much radio airplay and was featured on the Rock Hard magazine compilation “Best of the Unsigned Bands”. Playing live to support their album throughout the rest of 98’ and most of ‘99, Tramontane began to catch the attention of metal fans everywhere. Whether it was through a downloaded MP3 file, or being lucky enough to witness a live show, the message was clear, Tramontane brings their listeners the power and drama they so desire. After a successful year, Tramontane has been in their practice studio writing new material for their next release. Tramontane will begin recording this spring.
