Tracksuit is made up of five energetic guys all attending Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. The name comes from drunken rambling in an on-campus bar during first year, as Joe, the singer, promised the bar that he had a band and would be able to perform there, despite the fact that he really didn't. When pressured for a name for the band, the first thing that popped into his head was 'Tracksuit', and it seems to have stuck.
Rounding up 2 friends from highschool and 2 more guys they met during first year of university, Tracksuit became a real band and actually played at the bar, as promised, to a group of close friends. To the surprise of everyone, what started off as a drunken joke actually sounded pretty decent on-stage. The band stuck with it, and decided to round up a couple more shows and try to build on the success of their first few outings. As Tracksuit grew, so did their arsenal of original songs. Live shows began to include more originals than covers, giving the fans what they wanted as everyone began to pick out their own Tracksuit favourites.
As popularity and support grew, the guys decided enough was enough and it was time to make a cd. Relying on some lucky breaks and coincidences, they found themselves at The Bathouse, the studio where the Tragically Hip record, where they completed their first EP entitled 'Hospital Flowers'.
With the release of their cd, things seem to be on the upside for this group of drunken university students. Their website is up and running smoothly, with pictures, sound samples, bios, concert chronologies, CD ordering info, and more! Check out Tracksuit, give their website a visit, and see why everyone in Kingston is checking out their live show!
