The Tin Pot Operation formed in 2003 and have rapidly established a reputation for a blistering live show and a stock of great songs left ringing in the audience’s ears. Regularly playing prestige venues such as the Limelight, the Empire, and Mandela Hall as well as a host of shows highlighting the issue of racist attacks in the North. They have left people struggling for comparison. They seem to effortlessly bridge the great chasm between indie-rock and punk with a growing, dedicated fanbase in both camps. The TPO are doing something that defies simple definition, with an unmistakeable signature sound delivering a visceral message of defiance that seems to have been missing for far too long.
The TPO is Anto O'Kane on Strat and Vocals (shouting), Ray Lawlor on Tele and Vocals, Shaz Morgan on Bass and Marty Malone banging the skins.
The band is planning an extensive touring schedule for the Autumn around the UK and Europe including Catalonia and the Basque Region, where we have a strong fan network.
The TPO's debut, self financed indie release 'Manufacturing Dissent' was set loose in February and has confounded easy classification and caused a lot of excitement in the press. 16 tracks recorded in 36 hours at the cost of £72, and has made many expensive recordings look like a shameful waste of time and money. The band have recently secured studio time to cement their reputation with a 6 track EP to be released this summer on a local indie label.
