Third Level
Band Biography

  • From: Waite Park, MN
  • No. of Members: 2
  • Year Established: 2000

Originally from St. Louis, MO., Doug Millaway moved to the upper midwest about 18 years ago. Since then, he has moved from the gigging artist to the studio. His current project is with fellow musician Rob Denton. Rob is originally from Florida, but has lived in Texas and Minnesota as well. Doug plays the keys and Rob is the guitarist. Together they make up Third Level. You can hear MP3 samples of our music @ http://www.thirdlevelmusic.com/home.htmPlease stop by and say hello!Third Level plays what the duo have come to call 'enigmatic jazz'. The concept that each composition revolves around change and free-flowing possibilities is what makes their mix innovative. The songs range from smooth jazz to vast soundscapes. The only way to truly understand what enigmatic jazz is, is to experience it.

Rob uses only Webstrings Memphis electric strings and plays the Hagstrom (Swede), Fender Strat & DiAquisto Jazz, Parker P38, Reverend Spy, Lucida Classical, and Ibanez Acoustic guitar. Line 6 and Fender amps along with Behringer sound components.Doug plays Yamaha S80 and the Kurzweil K2500 keyboards. Brian Moore guitars with Behringer amps.Anything else...?

The goal of Third Level is to provide a unique, yet marketable sound. We are serious musicians who don't take ourselves too seriously.'It's only a matter of time before another awakening will come and people will begin to realize this aspect of the art form again.''Life without music is meaningless - music without life is math.'

I quote Debussy speaking of devices, rules, theory and such that purists still rave and rant about. 'There is no theory,' Debussy said, 'You only have to listen. Pleasure is the rule . . . The beauty of a work of art will always remain a mystery . . . we can never be sure how it is done. At all costs we must preserve this magic which is peculiar to music and to which music is, by its nature, the most receptive of arts.'
