The Tumbleweeds are a quirky country band. It's been a whirlwind of a year, and we have formed many great friendships. A little history is that Kimmy, Zorba, Ben and Zach formed The Tumbleweeds for a Children's Miracle Network Fundraiser, an event sponsored by Fox59 (Indy's Fox TV), and a wedding. Then we were joined by pianist Fred Yde. The ride has just become better and we've performed more than 100 shows in the first year.
The band features Kimmy and Zorba singing harmony and lead vocals. Ben plays tuba, Zach drums, Fred and Brad play the Keys and Zorba plays lead guitar.
Some highlights from 2005 include: The Melody Inn's 70th Anniversary, Heorot's 10th Anniversary in Muncie, The Tonic Ball, The Hillbilly Happy Hour's 3rd annivesary, The Cash Bash, Musicians for Kids Benefit, The Hideaway on Hillside's Going Away Party, Theater on the Square's 'Sordid Lives,' Farewell to Hadley, Orkestra Projekt's season finale 'Fire,' Fractured Folk Showcases hosted by Kit Malone, performing in the Country Music Hall of Fame. In july we were asked to play MagFest Midwest that also had Bela Fleck, Tony Rice, Peter Rowan, Buddy Miller, The Duhks, Uncle Earl and Stringtown Pickers on the bill. This next year is going to be even more fun, remember to live long and love often. We're also performing at Magnolia festival in Sauwannee, Fla., from Oct. 20-21, 2005.
