The Soulutions began as a world music experiment at Montgomery College MD. The band began by fusing varying influences with songs written by lead singer Jermain Swaby. After rehearsing and playing several fundraisers and award ceremonies the band had developed a diverse songlist.

The band includes Jermain on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Jay on bass, Diana on violin, Willie on lead guitar, and Alex on percussion. Originally all percussion was done on african and latin hand drums. We now include a drum kit on several tunes for a little more energy, though we are always willing to return to those chill roots.

As the band continued to play, Jermain's songwriting grew and the style stretched away from the simple reggae pop-tunes, we began to introduce rock influences and include more complex forms with groove changes and long solo sections. The style has departed from our simple songwriting roots and evolved toward more complicated tunes with a focus on musicianship.
