The Outer Loop is a 3 piece band from Hampton, VA that claim a truly original sound. Between Matt Thomas' acoustic bass lines and melodic vocals, Jason Helmintoller's active yet fast and jangly guitar riffs and vocals, and Rhonda Piasecki's backbone bluesy style of drumming, the Loop makes a sound like no other. Their songs are ultra-catchy and their skewed perspective of songwriting sets them aside from other local area acts.
Outer Loop performances are just as fun for the Loop as they are for their audience. The Outer Loop 'parties', as they are called, involve a high level of audience participation, including sing-alongs, hula-hooping, and dancing. To become a certified loopy, all one needs to do is sign the Loop's mailing list and pose for a portrait with Oelle, their mascot panther (a stuffed animal, in case you were wondering). These pictures then are posted on The Outer Loop's website FOREVER!!
The first CD by The Outer Loop is entitled 'Who's On The Ceiling' and features 19 all original tracks. It is a completely acoustic album, yet the energy is still stronger than most lower-budget recordings. The CD has been received warmly and several people can't seem to get the CD out of their stereo, or the songs out of their heads!
