The Out of the Blue Band
Band Biography

  • From: Salt Lake City, UT
  • No. of Members: 6
  • Year Established: 1997

Out of the Blue was first formed in 1997 in Salt Lake City playing cover tunes and original music. A Six piece band covering music from the 1950's thru 2005, released their first CD in 2004 'Along for the Ride.' The band is currently working on our their second CD with an anticipated release date at the end of Augest 2005.

When the Out of the Blue Band was originally formed back in the mid-nineties, it was the dream of all the members that someday we might be able to sell band t-shirts and make more money at gigs than the cost of gas to get there. Never in our wildest dreams did we foresee that we might have our own web page and make a CD. Today, almost eight years after the band crawled out of the basement and started it's trek upwards to mediocrity, the band is better than ever.

Over the years, the Band has played numerous engagements throughout Utah, including the 2002 Winter Olympics at Washington Square and at the Olympic Village. The band (ie. Dorothy and Michelle) was a huge hit with the Croatian National Team at the Olympic Village, although the Croatian Nation Tour never materialized due to lack of sponsorship. The Band has also played numerous corporate functions, weddings, State Fairs, Christmas parties and charitable fundraisers.

The band features the lead vocals of the talented and lovely Dorothy Williams and covers a wide array of musical endeavors from older rock, to blues, Motown, Jazz, Swing and originals. The band also features Michelle Measells on bass guitar, keyboards and flute, Bobby Blue Morton and Cordell Measells sharing the guitar responsibilities, Doctor Chris Wehl on drums and our most recent addition to the Blue family, Dr. Steve Ault on keyboards. Their latest CD, 'Along for the Ride' featuring all of their greatest hits, represents the best of many years on their county wide tours, with stops in Sandy, Murray, Holladay, South Salt Lake City and dowtown Salt Lake City. Next year's much anticipated tour will be expanded to include other outlying areas along the Wasatch Front, including Draper and Magna and possible trips out of the county to Toole and Ogden.
