The Loft is a six piece original rock 'n roll band based out of Nashville Tennessee. The initial idea for the band goes back more than eight years ago to the loft above brothers John and Phil Banzhoff's bedroom. Friends would come over after school and 'get creative' in the loft. In the process, schoolmate Chris White learned to play acoustic guitar, Phil learned to play several instruments before settling on bass, and John emerged as a singer. Eventually operations moved to the basement where schoolmate Jon Biggs joined in on drums and the band was named The Loft.
After much rehearsing and much 'creative getting', the band finally booked some shows. Electric guitar whiz John Burke was at one of these earlier shows and was so enchanted with the sound that he decided to audition for the band. Burke's hendrix inspired blues licks caught The Loft's ear immediately, and then there were five. Several months later, the same story repeats when piano player Nathan Johnson caught a show and couldn't help but love the band. After a trial by fire on stage, Nathan was invited to join the fray permanently.
More than three years have passed since becoming a six piece. In that time, the band has played over 300 shows in assorted random towns - many of them lucky to even be on a map - across the southeast. The band has independently released three EP's, one full - length CD and a live album. The band has learned how to be in a band together, how to keep from killing each other, how to spend many hours sweating like pigs or freezing, depending on the season, in their bus (an airport shuttle bus they purchased at auction). Given that there are no rich uncles, no cushy label deals, and six mouths to feed... the guys still work day - jobs. What all this adds up to is one hard-working band that loves to play rock ' roll together and has a great time doing it.
