The J Edward Orchestra. An acoustic folk-funk-rock band from Providence, Rhode Island. The Orchestra creates music that is funky for the melodic soul and interjects it with positive singing, percussive guitar playing, intricate but funky bass stylings, and jazzy tinged drums and you get a new type of sound. The J Edward Orchestra consists of Steve Northup on bass guitar, John Ferreira on drums, and Jayson Mello on acoustic guitar and vocals. Each member throws in their own ingredient and makes that sound which we all love to hear. A sound that will call the body to get up and dance.

The band started as an idea of Jayson's. He picked up the acoustic guitar because he wanted to feature a different sound fronting a band. Playing throughout 1998-2000 mostly as a solo performer, Jayson hooked up with Steve in the summer of 2000. Jayson and Steve played various coffeehouses, and open mikes throughout the Rhode Island area, before stumbling upon John. John immediately kept in contact with the band and was added to the band in the winter of 2001.
