Jason(19)bass and vocals/Paul(19)drums/Martin(20) guitar/James(19)tenor and alto sax/Ian(19)tenor and bari sax/Brenden(19) alto sax/ make up the Punk/ska/rock band THe Dissenters from Brick, NJ. They started playing shows in May of 98 and have been giging steady since. In August of 2000, THE DISSENTERS independently recorded their first full lenghth CD 'Against the Grain'. They are now busy promoting their release with tour planning, radio, and internet.

The Dissenters played their first show at the legendary STONE PONY in Asbury Park, NJ. There a local promoter discoved the band and gave them the opportunity to open up for one of their favorite bands, Mustard Plug. Since then the Dissenters have had the honor of playing with such national acts as: Fenix TX, Mephiskapheles, Catch22, The Pilfers, big D and the Kids Table,and Inspecter 7. In the summer of 2000 they had a cover article written about their 3 year career in the state-wide distributed newspaper : 'THe Asbury Park Press'. They we're also nominated for 'best band in nj' by the asbury Park music awards.

THe Dissenters are dilligently working on promoting their new cd and booking shows. THey use their music as a tool to meet people, have fun, express themselves, and share their ideas in a positive way. Through their lyrics, Music and actions The Dissenters hope to spread a message of equality, peace, and unity.
