Sometimes referred to as 'the E Street Band for Generation X' the Cryptkeeper Five have ignited the East Coast with their original music and high-energy performances. The Cryptkeeper Five aren't too keen on being labeled, and that's understandable because their sound defies classification. Loud? Yeah. Groovin'? Hell, yeah. With a blend of 50's Rock n Roll melodies, the raw intensity of 70's Punk Rock, the twang of Early Country, and the grassroots of O.G. Rockabilly, coming straight out of Jersey.
The complete lineup of The Cryptkeeper Five includes Johnny; lead singer, rhythm guitar player and the cornerstone of the band. D.T. Graves on drums and Jimmy Ray Roswell on guitar round out the remaining members of The Cryptkeeper Five’s original crew. Scotty Engel signed on with his guitar in the summer of 2000, and was soon followed by Big Sal on the bass. Sax player Blue Madigan and piano and organ player Nick are the most recent additions to add their distinct style and flavor to The Cryptkeeper Five’s signature sound.
The Cryptkeeper Five has performed over 250 shows in the tri-state metropolitan area as well as throughout the East Coast and Mid-West. They were nominated Best Punk/Ska band in New Jersey by the Asbury Park Music Awards for two consecutive years, have been featured on several compilations including Skully Records': 'Gothabilly 2: Rockin Necropolis' 2000, and have seen national and international radio play. The Cryptkeeper Five is currently touring in support of their third release on their upstart label Death Rock Records; 'and their God-Damn Rock n Roll' is an eight song EP that delves deeper into the heart of the five. Previous releases include 'Pomade & Switchblades', 1998, and 'Dear Dr. X, I wanna be the Creature', 1997.
With original material second to none and a killer live Rock n Roll show to back it up, The Cryptkeeper Five are poised to give the world 'their God-Damn Rock n Roll'.
