The Contenders are an 8 piece ska band out of Minneapolis, Mn. Forming from the ashes of several broken up bands including 3 Weeks, The Jinkies, Fast Eddie G, and The Pinsetters, The Contenders have focused their energy on coming up with danceable, original ska music.

If you had to describe their sound in words it'd be Pop-Trad Ska. With influences ranging from the old school ska like The Skatilites, Prince Buster, Desmond Decker, and Toots and the Maytals to the '2tone' of the 70's with bands like Bad Manners and The Specials and fusing all of that together with more of a 90's pop and ska sound which is where The Siren Six! come in. Only forming less than a year ago, The Contenders are already making an impact on the Minneapolis ska scene.

The Contenders consist of 8 members. 2 guitars, tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, trumpet, organ/keys, drums and bass guitar.
