With a powerful sound that blends old-school and contemporary house-rockin' blues, The Barrelhouse Kings have established themselves as one of the best up-and-coming blues bands in Memphis. Their five-track promotional CD, In Bill's Garage, garnered airplay on local radio.
The Kings have recently released their debut CD, Go To The River. The music on the CD is as diverse as the blues standards that they play in live shows. You don't have to look far to hear the shades of several genres, such as blues, funk, jazz, rock and even country. The CD, recorded at Easley Studios in Memphis, showcases eleven original songs.
The band has also performed at some of Memphis' hottest clubs, including B.B. King's, Silky O'Sullivan's, and This Is IT!, Willie Mitchell's Legend's, all on the world famous Beale Street, and played at the Earth Day Celebration at the historic Overton Park Shell.Occasionally they venture out of state to do Blue's Festival's and other dates.
Known for their riveting and intense live performances, The Barrelhouse Kings play classic blues by the likes of Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Albert King and Buddy Guy as well as tunes by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bonnie Raitt, and The Allman Brothers, all with unwavering prowess and emotion.
