The Anti
Band Biography

  • From: Haunted (River Falls), WI
  • No. of Members: 5
  • Year Established: 1992

The Anti was created to showcase emotional terror in 1995 by Kris DeSmith. The Anti began as solo-vocal and spoken word performances and would also record using a reel to reel 4-track recorder. Darkling: Music for Children Ages 8-13 was released in April of 1997 by the Terrorist Halloween Collective(co-founded by DeSmith) and contained the two hit singles Laying Alanis and Halloween Love Scene. The follow up album Beautiful Stiches was not released untill 2001. This was produced by DeSmith while living in Eugene, OR and is considered the crossover album as it was the first album containing substantial musical instraments. The Anti's comeback album Hunter Boy Died was recorded in Eugene, OR in 2001 on a Tascam 424 MK III. The 27 minute, one track recording, was the first of a trilogy of albums that were meant to be used as soundtracks for horror movies with interludes between songs. Hunter Boy Died was the featured soundtrack to a New England Zombie movie The Mental Dead. The second album of the trilogy, Bugfeast, contains the smash hit Empy Bottles, a tribute to late nights, pills, and eating disorders. Bugfeast was made in the 72 hours that followed after DeSmith purchased a used keyboard synthesiser. The third album of the trilogy, A Brief Funeral, was also produced, written and recorded by DeSmith in 72 hours. A Brief Funeral completes The Anti's solo recording in Eugene, but DeSmith also produced and recorded 2 albums with the band Butch Hellions, headed by The Anti. In 2003 DeSmith returned to Haunted Wisconsin and formed The Patriot Removal Act with Jes C. Kuhn, Joe B. Score, and Seegar Mason. The rural political hate band released the Blaze Orange Alert demo in the spring of 03 before disbanding to pursue other projects. While living in Milwuakee, DeSmith teamed up with drummer David Anfang Hart and released St. Cadaver's Mens Choir's Abundent Death Church demo. The black metal short was a precursur to The Anti's 6th Solo Album. Creep on the Back Porch was released in April of 2005 as the soundtrack to the short zombie feature Unsettled, directed by Sam Thompson. Creep is by far the most comprehensive solo album released by The Anti. Containing such hits as Mother Goose Noose, On the Run (North), and Rearranging Headstones, Creep on the Back Porch was adapted to be composed and performed live by DeSmith's closest friends who demanded that these songs be displayed by a live band.

The Anti is Kris DeSmith as composer, and vokiller. Joe B. Score on Lead Guitar. Russell Mason on percussion. Seegar Mason on Bass Guitar. Dave Robelia on keyboards.

The Anti has had quite a success playing college party bars and venues in the midwest performing in La Crosse, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, and St. Paul.
