Sunny Jim, formed in Feb of this year, is the BEST band in Olympia. Their grooves are unmatched by any other group in this region. Whether dancing to the hits of today, banging to the hits of yesteryear, your jaw will drop when you hear this band. Olympia is buzzing about this 'supergroup' whos members are by far the best players in this town.
Phil Rivas, vocalist & guitarist, has been playing for years. His array of vocal subtleties will wet even the driest of panties. Scott Peoples, drummer extrodinare, is quite honestly the best drummer in region. I've read articles about him in mags like Modern Drummer and Experience Hendrix. He has a degree in music, but his talent far surpasses ANY drummer I have ever seen. Tim Hogan rocks the bass. Unlike any player I've heard, he mixes soooo well with Scott. And Randy Sloan, rock guitarist supreme, plays his axe like a mad man, then like a gentle mother tending to her young, then like a pissed off teen. So many different sounds, feelings. Draws lots of emotion out of his gear. Excellent.
You must see Sunny Jim. They will blow you away. Though they are already 'too big' for alot of venues here in town, keep an eye out for they ocaissionally play the South Pacific in Tumwater, or O'Blarneys in Lacey. They pack everywhere they play now.
Being a fan of this band and not even knowing if doing this is cool with the guys, I've met every member and have to say, they are the coolest bad-asses I've ever met. I get all jittery when I see them. Like I am about to meet something special. After you hear this band, you will definatley know what I am talking about.
LONG LIVE SUNNY JIM!!!!!
