Strange Brew formed by accident. Initially created for a one-off gig, Tony 'The Couth' Bowes (guitar, vocals, harp) and Peter 'The Professor' Petkovic (guitar/slide) remain the original members. The 1st import (although he was nearly an original memeber, but declined earlier due to other commitments) was Mark 'Animal' Corry (drums). Dave 'Sugar Daddy' Doz (bass) followed soon after.
Tony The Couth and The Professor set out to make this band sound different. Tony started writing various blues songs all varying in style, while the Professor set about developing agressive guitar lead styles along with some very fast rifts. When it came to composing the songs, Tony would simply play it and the others would follow along and play it the way they wanted, Usually after a few 'jams' with the new song, a basic composure would be agreed on, although they have never played the same song the same way twice.
The reheasals often become solid (and very loud) jam sessions lasting around 3 hours. Their stage performance can often go the same way. They are very dynamic in their performances and really know how to get an audience to take notice.
Starnge brew recently played at the Frankston Guitar Festival (Victoria) and were received extremely well by their peers. If you are looking for a great little blues band that really bends the way covers are played as well as belting out their huge amount of originals, you need to book this group now.
