Spritual Poverty was formed in November 2001. Consisting of its four members, Spiritual Poverty is a force to be reckoned with in the local music scene and beyond. Coming from varied backgrounds and musical tastes, we take nothing for granted and take our craft very seriously.
Spiritualy poverty is: Jason(guitars/Lead vocals); Neil(Lead Guitar/Backing vocals); Adam( Bass/Backing Vocals) and Johnny(Drums/Backing vocals). Each of the members have extensive playing experience and a wide range of musical tastes. We take every aspect of each others playing and musical tastes into consideration when writing our songs. Each individual has had extensive prior musical training and consists of many styles. Each member of the band has come from troubled backgrounds and experience in dealing with pain hurt and disappointment. all of this is carefully blended into the soundscape that is Spiritual Poverty. The lyrics are true to life and everyone can find something in the lyrics to make their own. The hooks are catchy and memorable and the music as a whole can be fun to dance to or just to sit back and listen. We are light hearted, Euphoric and hard rocking. Overall, a pleasant mix of life, love and rock n roll.
Origionally consisting of three members; Jason, Neil(on bass) and Johnny, the guys felt that moving Neil to lead guitar(due to his uncanny and natural abilities and talents on lead guitar)and recruiting another bassisit would do the music justice and open up the sound of the band as a whole. Feburary 2002: Enter Adam Jensen. As it was becoming clear that adding a second guitarist was the right idea. Jason, Neil and Johnny began searching for the right man to step in as the new bassist. The search didnt take long. By way of recommendation from a trusted source and long time friend of Neil's; John Beck of After Eden suggested Adam Jensen. Having played together in the past John highly recommended him as the right man for the job. After an audition, the guys realized that Adam had the knowledge, experience and the chops to be the final piece of the puzzle. His experience as a live and session player and his uncanny ability to use the bass guitar not only to accent the drums, but play off the dual guitars of Jason and Neil, Spiritual Poverty became a whole and began its mission to bring peace love and hope to all and give everyone a chance to hear a rock outfit that they can feel just as much a part of as the members themselves.
