Shovelhead is an original, four-piece, new-heavy band out of Dayton, Ohio, combining guitar, bass, drums and vocals into a powerful mixture to knock you off your feet. No punches are pulled and nothing is held back when these guys hit the stage or the stuido. If you are looking for original and hard-hitting metal, then look no further.
Since their union in 1995, Shovelhead has released two CDs, Push and Shovelhead, and has logged thousands of shows across the Midwest and South. They have shared the stage with national acts such as The Hunger, The Misfits, Anthrax, Quiet Riot, Great White, Ronnie Dio, The Nixons, Ian Astbury, Testament and many others. Two weeks after their sold-out CD release party for Push, the first single off the album, Oktober, went into regular rotation on WTUE 104.7 FM in Dayton, and has since been receiving airplay throughout the Midwest and Florida.
The band now regularly sells out its shows, and its CD release party for Shovelhead was noted as one of the Top 10 local shows in the Dayton Daily News. Crowds can expect a high-energy, no bullshit approach to hard rock when they see Shovelhead.
The members of Shovelhead are Darrell Daniels on guitar, Mike Compton on vocals, Steve Truman on bass and Deron Castle on drums. The four function as a tight unit, creating honest music that touches the audience and leaves a lasting mark.
