Jake Shimon writes songs. He's been doing so since the seventh grade, and he's twenty-one now. Powerful acoustic chords blended seamlessly with soaring melodies, Jake's songs easily become anthems for any generation. In the fall of 2001, something happened by chance. Jake crossed paths with his cousin Jason Shafton who happened to own and operate a small recording company based out of Chicago. Nearly thirty recorded songs later, Jason has become Secondhand's bass player and recording engineer as well as producer for the band's label, Rubber Room Records. As the musical connection between the two cousins began to take shape, another was forming. Two brothers from Jake's hometown of Mequon, Wisconsin, a northern Milwaukee suburb, became a part of the dynamic equation that was soon to evolve into Secondhand. In the summer of 2002, Derek Arnold, a well-defined rock guitar player and Blake Arnold, a snare-smashing drummer from the same mother, connected with Jake and Jason to add the finishing touches to Jake's second acoustic album entitled 'The Inspiration EP'. At that time, the four had no idea that they would soon collaborate again to create something entirely different...
In the spring of 2003, Jason moved up to Madison and a band was born. Since then, the group has played the local scene and is gearing up for a year that is bound to be their best yet. With their new demo 'Two Hours Late' hot off the presses, Secondhand is ready to show Southern Wisconsin, the Midwest and perhaps the world what rock, music, love, and life are all about.
