Band Biography

  • From: Detroit, MI
  • No. of Members: 1
  • Year Established: 2002

I was born in the state capital and grew up in Oakland County. My life was pretty insignaifcant and boring up until my teenage years when I moved from Pontiac to Warren. In a new area I was in a hurry to make friends so that I would’nt go crazy sitting around all day. Well it seems that I attract musicians. In high school I met a few good musicians that turned out to be great friends too. So my natural love for music went from listening to it to playing it. All through high school I played bass in different punk bands. Now that I learned to play bass and I could already play keyboards from all those days in school music class, I decided that that was’nt enough. So I started learning guitar. I learned just enough for it to be helpful for me to articulate ideas to my bandmates. But true to form as most musicians know, the band did’nt last. So with my spare time I started partying and living it up. The stuff we did you only see in the movies! Needless to say I would later feel the repercussions. I would find myself in more trouble than I every thought I’d see. I ended up being arrested for countless drugs and weapons charges including a felony to which I spent time in jail and on probation for. In the mist of this self-inflicted hell, my daughter was born. The relationship with me and her mother was as ugly as it gets. With my daughters mother even more screwed up than I was, I had finally started down the right path. That is when I decided to take things into my own hands, I would fight for full custody of my daughter. I did the state certified parenting classes, drug tests, psychological exams the whole nine yards and after long 18 months it all payed off. Now at this point I’m a 21 year old man raising his daughter, with a lot of help from family and working a dead end job. So I started pounding the pavement looking for work. After a couple of job moves I found a place that served mine and my daughters needs. It was their that I met chuckie. A drummer, chuckie wanted to get a band started. So chuckie came over with his kit, I had my bass but that was it. So I called a friend of mine who I worked with in the past to come and sing for our new band. That is wre it stayed for a while. We wrote tons of songs and even playing locally even though we were more like beat poetry than a band. Then as fate would have it, I would run into an old friend who just happens to play guitar. Now we have a band and now we can play some real shows…….or maybe not. After the addition of a second guitar player the band fizzled apart. Leaving only me and our current guitar player, we kept working hard on refining old material and writing new. But that was not enough for me, I bought some beat machines, samplers, digital recorders etc….and started writing rap and hip hop music. With my rap record in the works and me and my guitar player trying to put a rock record together my singer would come back to jam. So I moved over to the drums, which just came so naturally to me. Now all we need is a new bass player and we are in there…..BAM….chris steps in and “Parallax” is reborn. Now I’m performing at hip hop shows as well as rock shows all over this great state, my daughter is a well adjusted six year old, I just bought my first house, my recording studio will be open soon, and my family is happy and healthy. Now at 27 years old, I finally found my path...................
