After attending school in Boston, Schleigho's home base now lies close to New York City. They have released 3 CDs over the past 5 years, and tour heavily. The music is improvisational in a similar manner to electric Miles, for instance, mostly instrumental, with mature melodies spun around complex funk/groove motifs.
The latest addition to the band is bassist Matt Rubano. An impressive player with an impressive resume, Schleigho met Matt while he was touring with Hypnotic Clambake. Also a session player in NYC who has worked with the likes of Lauryn Hill on her recent grammy-winner, his solid groove has brought Schleigho a new, super-tight funk feel.
The rest of the band has been together since it's beginnings; Erik Egol (drums), Jesse Gibbon (keys), and Suke Cerulo (Guitar, flute, sax). Erik is nothing short of an aggressive metrinome behind the kit, honed from years of touring, schooling at Berkeley, and lessons with Bob Gulotti (the Fringe, Surrender to the Air).
Jesse attended UC Santa Cruz for piano, he now plays a Fender Rhodes electric piano and Hammond organ; his biting solos and crunchy tones blend perfectly with Suke's multi- instrumentation. Masterful on guitar, flute, and sax, and leaning away from guitar-heavy groove, Suke's amazing musicianship completes the tight, jazzy combo. Pictures and sounds available at WWW.SCHLEIGHO.COM !
