SOLEYduncan are five white boys who let their funk flag fly. 'That 1 Song' (bonus points for the understated song title) combines turbo-metal riffing with a slash of Rick James style. A freaky scene indeed. Bill Crandall, Rolling Stone
The same sound that would be made if the Incredible Hulk met Wonder Woman on the dance floor.
If your looking for the same redone sound as every other band then this is not for you. But, if you want fresh new funky creativeness to get your butt moving then by all means... please be our guest.
This band has done everything with absolutely nothing. A truly independent band building and creating everything with their own hands and minds. This alone separates them from everyone who is dependent on others creativity (i.e. labels/management) to launch them. SOLEYduncan are wild, spontaneous, and original and through this mindset, their music explodes.
Four people formed together with one thing in mind: to create the fullest funky sound available, occasionally bringing in diesel (trumpet) to add a rare spice to the songs.
SOLEYduncan rises up from some unholy marriage between funk and grunge, thrown into a modern world littered with the remains of psychedelic and jam rock. It's the kind of sonic world fans of the Red Hot Chili Peppers will easily mosh to, if you insist on a reference point. But SOLEYduncan naturally slice their own swath from the common pool and come up with a definite something true fans will be fanatical about. Most apparent is the presence of trumpet throughout the CD; part and parcel of the band's sound, not some afterthought add-on and diesel (the trumpet player) gets it all right, grooving from the outset 'Super Natural Freedom' and through the gnarled riffs, punctuating Mike P's freeform guitar riffs and the rhythm tandem's busta phunk power. This'z a hot slab, friends. And highly recommended..
