Rutherford B. Hayes is dead is a Geek Rock band based out of sunny Oak Park, California. The members, Chris Donlon (guitar, vocals), Jason Krane (guitar, vocals), and Wes Lagattolla (bass), have been friends since Kindergarten. The band officially formed in early 2000 after years of casual playing.

RBHID plays a form alternative rock music known as Geek rock. This is a pop, punk, and rock mixture. Some other geek rock bands include Weezer, Nerf Herder, They Might Be Giants, and Ozma. Some other influences include Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Blur, the Eels, and Raffi.

The band is based in Oak Park, California, where everyone used to live. Wes lives there currently, however Jason is at Loyola Marymount University and Chris is at UC Santa Cruz. Because of the distance, we usually only plays shows during the summer and breaks.

I guess we should explain how we got the band name. It doesn't really mean anything, it's more of a joke. Wes came up with a few years ago as a play on 'The Dead Kennedy's' (if you didn't know, Rutherford B. Hayes was the 19th president of the United States). Somehow it just stuck around. If you really want to find 'meaning' in it, here's our deep interp: Rutherford represented a very moralistic time in US history. That time is dead. Or something.
