The creation of Rubber Johnny began with Joey A. and Nick C. writing basic riffs with in-depth lyrics. With their passion, attitude and general gift for writing heavy, catchy songs with and edge, they set out to write music that was different than the mainstream alternative incorporating a mixture of punk, classic hard rock, and alternative tones to create an electric, fresh and exciting band.
Their lead guitarist, Ken Hart, was added to the band in 1997 after a revolving door of auditions. Hart added instant musical credibility to the band with his experience and guitar talents.
In July of 1998, Archie was brought in to play rythem guitar adding a raw and edgy style to the band's exitsting music. The new drummer Richie G. was automatically accepted into the band after his mind-blowing performance at the audition in October of 1998. Currently, Rubber Johnny is auditioning bass players (which are hard to find) with hard styles and raw emotion towards the art of playing bass. (If you live in the area, drop us a line.)
The band began to perform in the local New York scenes playing places such as Coney Island High, CBGB's, The Lion's Den and The Spiral. Local New Jersey shows consist of The Loop Lounge, Love Sexy, Obsessions, Club Bene', and The Birch Hill Rubber Johnny is currently working on the new material that will surpass everyone's expections and truly make an impact in the current alternative scene
