Welcome to the world of Roadside Attraction! The band was started in January
of 1992 by guitarist Phil Johnson. Over the next couple of years,
members changed and a sound was forged. That sound has been dubbed 'New Century Rock'.
In a time when popular music has been divided into too many genres, Roadside Attraction
seeks to unite different styles under one banner.
Roadside Attraction's music is a multi-faceted array of musical styles with a solid
foundation in rock n' roll. The band's debut CD, 'Rock Formations' is a taste of
what this band is capable of. In nine songs, the band covers musical ground like
funk-rock, southern rock, reggae, Latin, and punk/alternative. The beauty of this
band as a writing team is each member's tastes outside of the traditional rock n'
roll genre. Tim is into Motown and classic rock. Phil loves the blues and
classical music. Joe enjoys acid jazz and funk. Ron keeps everyone
looking forward with his taste in new bands. It may seem that all of these
different influences would lead to a disjointed sound. That, however, is not the case.
Roadside Attraction's sound is very versatile, yet cohesive and easily accessible
to the average listener.
Roadside Attraction calls the San Francisco Bay Area home, but performs all
over the western US. Their debut single, 'Flat World' is enjoying commercial
radio play all over the country. It has appeared on Gavin Magazine's Most
Added chart and Up and Coming chart.
Roadside Attraction is simply a good time rock n' roll band that lives to share its
music with the world. It doesn't matter if the crowd is highschool age or in their
golden years, they love the music and, always ask for more. Rock n' roll is
supposed to be fun and with this band it is. Come to the New Century with Roadside Attraction!
