ReTroSpecT was formed originally as 'City Blues' in 2000. As the songlist grew music styles ranged from from blues to motown, classic rock and rockabilly/country and even some jazz, the named changed to reflect their style. Once audiences heard the versitility of the band, club owners and party planners quickly gained interest and now ReTroSpect has become one of the most talked about and entertaining bands in Oklahoma. Two guys and one gal share lead vocals, making the tight harmonies something to write home about.
ReTroSpect consists of Ken Helton on bass guitar and lead vocals, Gloria Short on keyboards and lead vocals, Larry Brown on drums and lead vocals, Bruce Hartley on rhythym and lead guitar and Joe Manduca on Lead guitar. Each player has had many years playing music in one form or another making this band unique in sound and quality.
ReTroSpecT is known for playing songs most bands want to play but never tried. Of course they can easily play the standard requests, but they push to bring a whole new meaning to the word 'band'. Not only do they please their crowds with their cover tuners, they pull out the originals that have dancers asking for more. The band has opened for such artists as Chuck Negron (Three Dog Night), Peter Noone (Herman's Hermits) David Allen Coe, and others. Ken, Gloria and Larry can also fill the night with an acoustic gig, which sets ReTroSpect apart from other bands.
