Purge    Las Vegas, Nevada has had a recent rise in its local music scene, as well as a development of what will soon be known as a unique 'Vegas Sound'.  Backgrounds of classic rock, punk, and even R&B, have formed into a distinct Pop-Rock formula that bands like Purge are calling their own.  With an emphasis on catchy melodies layered between distinct rhythmic backbeats, these songs are alive, individual, and most importantly fun.    The boys in Purge (Carl, Dave, Jed, Jimmy, and Jon) are musicians who aren't necessarily looking to wow critics or create the next White Album - they'd rather just have a lot of fun playing tunes for their friends and fans.  They feel their music isn't about the complexity of the arrangement or the number of chords, but instead the emotions that people get out of it.  Whatever emotions these songs evoke out of the listener (love, anger, intensity, or pure electricity to name a few) as long as you go home singing along Purge feels as though they reached their goal.    An often exhaustive touring schedule playing the small club circuit has included shows in Arizona, California, Utah, and of course too many dates to count in Nevada.  Over the last 13 months as a band they have filled bars that held only 50 people all the way up to the 1200 seat Huntridge Theatre.  Each time garnering new fans with a live show that ranks second to none.  As Dave Holland, entertainment coordinator for the All Star Cafe in Las Vegas said, 'A good show isn't only about tight music - it's easily as important to actually entertain people.  Purge understands this concept and really delivers.'  The guys feel the key to the success of their live act is the unpredictability of it.  Who knows what Jed or Carl is going to do on any given night - not even the rest of the band - that's excitement!      A show doesn't go by where a new fan says they couldn't believe how much energy, emotion, and life came out from the stage during the performance.  If you get a chance to see Purge play live, don't pass it up - it'll always be an experience.
