Since the group’s origination in the Summer of 1996, Paris Blue is one of the few bands to successfully integrate such an eclectic blend of musical talent into such a widely supported musical format. Elements from hard rock, alternative metal and acoustic rock fuse together for one hell of an inspiring ride. Whether its touring with other regionally recognized artists, opening for Nationals or simply playing down at the local bar, you won’t want to miss out on this incredible group of musicians.
In 1990 with Brandon on Guitar, Thomas on Drums and C.J. on Vocals the garage band was born. Bass players came and went until Ysidro joined the group in 1993. Soon after, Paris Blue took Albuquerque by storm crossing many musical genres from Godsmack to Sevendust; Candlebox to Creed. Endless concerts and showcases inviting every age group has given these musicians the opportunity to expose their creative expression to everyone.
Paris Blue released their debut CD “Get Out Alive” in January of 1998. Available at all Hastings, Record Round Up and Blockbuster Music locations, their initial order had to be doubled due to increasing sales. The recording contains some of the bands earliest work such as ‘Holocaust’ (written in 1990) as well as ‘38 Times’ (1997). This was our first effort with Jon, our second guitar player, who entered in 1996. Recorded on a shoestring budget, the disc portrays some of the group’s earlier influences.
Pushing their regional exposure, the band’s media highlights include interviews with the southwest magazine Micline, and winning the 1997 94 ROCK Rosta Record Competition with their rendition of ‘Puff the Magic Dragon’. The band appears regularly on New Mexico’s 94 ROCK morning show and THE EDGE radio stations and has performed with National touring acts such as Haste, Godspeed and Brother Cane (plus a shoebox full of hair bands). They’ve also tackled acoustic showcases in local record stores, and have performed regularly at the New Mexico State Fair. Recently the group has contributed music for the upcoming directorial movie debut from Peter Filardi [The Craft, Flatliners] due out this summer.
Paris Blue plans a regional string of concerts this winter with studio work for their second full length CD scheduled for completion this spring. This highly anticipated disc depicts the band’s growth both as musicians and songwriters, and will be shopped heavily for label and distribution representation.
So here’s the bottom line. Paris Blue’s casual appearance and down to earth attitude establishes an intimacy with their listeners that invites a collaborative medley of highly intense musical execution. Their love of playing is as addictive as the art they’ve created.
Check them out live, I know you’ll agree.
