Ophir Pass is a Chicago-area band that combines funky jams with original music. The two guitarists, Joe Fricano and Dave Miller, complement each other perfectly during the jams that are the backbone of every show. Bassist Bill Pike provides the funk while drummer Freak keeps the beat. Audience members can hardly resist dancing when Ophir Pass takes the stage.

A recipe for the band would probably include five cups of originality, one tablespoon Phish (for craziness) and a sprinkle of the Grateful Dead (for psychedelic rock). Amoung their other influences are Bob Marley and Dave Matthew's Band. The lyrics are all original and written by band memebers. They range from the more happy-go-lucky sound of 'Mending' (which you can hear on this site) to the calmer 'Just a Game' to the simply strange 'Soylent Ryan'.

Ophir Pass strives to make their sound as unique as possible. The creative, jammy guitar leads mixed with funky bass lines and rhythmatic percussion have made Ophir Pass a must-see Chicago jam band.
