Of Dreams and MAdness is an unsigned band from Plainfield, CT that plays Original Hard Rock / Light Metal and then takes 80's Pop Songs and makes them METAL!
The band is a spider spinning a web of emotions and philosophies with its music. But the spinnerets of this hard-rock (light-metal) band produce more than just a sticky discharge that catches flies; these guys have bigger prey in mind. The key element that sets this ensemble apart from its peers is the same ingredient that allows the otherwise serious characteristics to thrive: FUN. ODAM is a fun and entertaining band with a wide appeal, and – refreshingly – has maintained its artistic integrity by creating a unique and expressive musical experience.
The Connecticut-based band started off in the summer of 2003 as a side-project for its three members (then involved with a technical metal band). The purpose: to have fun transforming 80’s pop songs into ass-kicking metal tunes. After making their own the works of Wham, Miami Sound Machine, and Simple Minds, it became clear that ODAM had awesome potential and deserved to be pursued fulltime. A side-project no more, the trio expanded their initial intentions and began writing original songs in addition to the covers. Because of the diverse backgrounds of each member, these very creative originals offer something for everyone: from catchy, heavy grooves to delicate, gripping melodies to insightful lyrics to energetic live shows.
Singer and bassist Jon Collard’s musical talents have always been impressive: from his early jazz days (trombone, trumpet, piano) to his innovative bass playing skills (forged from various metal projects) to his dynamic, yet always powerful vocals that ultimately bring ODAM’s songs to life. Guitarist Mike Potvin is a born rock-star and brings the balls and chunk to the band utilizing his 7-string guitars. Bringing up the rear, drummer John Giacchi employs a great deal of adaptability from thunderous double bass beats to syncopated funk grooves to ballads to odd meters to straight ahead rock and roll, John does it all – and it is always fun to watch him do it. The three individuals of very vast musical upbringings are Of Dreams And Madness – a band that is sure to leave its audience with a powerful and lasting impression.
