For nearly 6 years now these close friends have been working together as sidemen to a diversity of artists in the L.A. area, often venturing out on U.S. and European shows and tours. Whenever they've had the chance between gigs, they've gotten together to play the stuff they all hold close to their hearts and share a deep love for, putting their own gritty take on tunes by the likes of the J.B.'s, the Meters, Grant Green, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, Funkadelic, and the Prof. Longhair, just to name a few. With a rooted sense of funk, R&B, reggae and Rock & Roll, and an intimate understanding of one another's playing, ORGONE can take a song or spontaneous jam and twist it into something new and exciting every time they play it. ORGONE slides through style and dynamic changes seamlessly and effortlessly, continuously injecting whatever they play with their own heavy brand of raw funk power.
About a year ago ORGONE began a weekly residency at a small, but hip L.A. hangout (on a night also featuring djs spinning classic funk, rare groove, afrobeat & hip hop), playing covers of some of their favorite instrumental tunes. The night quickly began to grow as the band infused their weekly cover sets with some of their own homegrown grooves to an overwhelmingly positive response from the weekly packed crowds that were now coming around to dig on this hot new funk outfit. This encouraged the band to release their new self-titled debut cd, which was recorded live with minimal miking and no studio separation, just five guys hittin' it like a live gig. This was the only way to capture their spontaneity, and it shows. THe result: ten of the freshest and funkiest sides to come out of L.A. or anywhere for that matter in many years.
While ORGONE continues to work as a rhythm section for other artists, including being the touring band for hip hop legends the Pharcyde, they are now stepping out on their own with a new cd to support and a passion for what they do, bringing their brand of super heavy funk sounds to the rest of the country. ORGONE - whether in the studio or at a live venue - is always in the moment and on the edge, taking all listeners with them on what's been described as 'an aurally conscience expanding journey for the soul...'
