Nuance is a unique acoustic/electric jazz trio, with violin/trumpet/flugelhorn; guitar and
bass instrumentations. On occasion, Nuance will be accompanied by a guest drummer.
There's a remarkable synergy evident as the musicians explore straight-ahead jazz, gypsy
moods, Spanish and East Indian influences, as well as classical overtones, and it all swings.
The group's exceptional diversity is possible because of the expertise of each of the members:
Devon Bridgewater's triple-talent on trumpet, flugelhorn and violin; guitarist Stan Sorenson's
ability to deliver a wide variety of tones and styles; and bassist Dennis Sexton's rich resonance
on both acoustic and electric bass. No matter the style, the group's cohesive quality is strongly
evident which makes their CD 'Angular' a real pleasure to hear over and over again.
Of the 11 tracks, nine are members' originals. Nuance was honored as Best Jazz Band in Phoenix
for the Arizona Republic's 1995 poll, and has a following of jazz lovers throughout the State
of Arizona and elsewhere; they have been on the Artists' Roster of the Arizona Commission on
the Arts since 1993, and in that capacity have performed throughout the State of Arizona and
Mexico.
