Nation of one was born in the basement of bass player Albert Aguirre in the winter of 2003. Prior to that, Albert and guitarist Stan Butler had been playing music for another group, but had decided to go in a different direction. After deciding to take a fresh start, the new project was in a constant state of flux for about a year. The band auditioned local and national candidates to fill vocals and percussion. During this time the band did a tour to Florida in memory of the Columbine tragedy, and experienced the gracious hospitality of the community of Okeechobee Florida.In October of 2004 Rachel Brown applied for and was accepted for the role of lead vocalist. With six years of musical composition and performance experience, she quickly complimented and enhanced the groups existing material and played in integral part in the composition of four new songs. With three of its key members now in place, Nation of One began searching all the more diligently for right percussionist to cement the group together. In the summer of 2005, the Nation of One accepted Richard Ornelas as the new its new drummer. Richard’s background and discipline helped solidify the group into living, dynamic musical organism.
The Nation Of One lead singer is an incredible vocalist by the name of Rachel Brown. Nation of One is one of the rare bands fronted by a female. Other members are Stan Butler on guitar, Albert Aguirre on bass and Richard Ornelas on Drums. All members have years of formal music training under thier belts. The Nation of One music cosists of varying genres including rock, hard rock, techno rock, jazz rock and soft rock.
