Making the world a better place to live is the mission of the Mountain Lions International. Africa and North America are the homelands of this culturally diverse group of musicians who met in the unlikely place of Whitewater, Wisconsin.
Mountain Lions International's roots go back to 1997 when two UW-Whitewater students began assembling lyrics. Lions 3 and 4 were added in 1999 and their first playing out was in Milwaukee July 2000. After taking first place in a 'Battle' event on the UW-W campus in February 2002, the MLI has been playing for audiences in a diversity of venues ever since. Lion 5 was added in April 2002. The decision to concentrate on original music in the fall of 2003 resulted in the addition of Lion 6 and the departure of Lions 4 and 5.
The MLI's style is unique to them and displays the diversity of the members' backgrounds. Their musical genre is reggae. More than a rhythm, reggae music is an attitude about life; it is about all peoples of the world getting together and solving their differences, about joy and respect for one another. The MLI lives and breathe this concept, it is evident on their faces, how they treat one another and others, And the lyrics of their original compositions they call 'Positive Vibrations'.
MLI inffects their audiences with the message 'we must love one another'. Spend time with the Mountain Lions International and you will be keeping time, smiling, and asking, ' when are these guys coming back'?
