MaximumSuck does not care what you think of them, in fact, they already know. This six-piece outfit from Lawrence and Olathe was formed for the sole purpose of bringing fun back to rock. 'We got so sick of all these rockers talking about their feelings all the time', proclaims band commander Don Benedicto, 'so we decided to do something about it. Somewhere along the way, sex, drugs and rock 'n roll was reduced to whiney crybabies who want to talk about their emotions or make haughty political statements. We intend on taking rock back, in fact we intend to save it.' One look at their 'mission statement' confirms this fact. It reads: MaximumSuck does not intend to influence your politics, take your money or change your life. We just want to have some fun. MaximumSuck has had some fun all over Kansas City and Lawrence, having played venues like Benders, The Grand Emporium, The Bottleneck, and The Hurricane. They've played Car-audio competitions for Quantum Exile in Lawrence, and took part in Phony Jam, a sort of all-star show for Kansas City area metal bands. They've also been known to show up unannounced at several Lawrence house parties, where they put on a totally free high energy show. MaximumSuck prides itself on its deliciously simple riffs, and outrageous lyrics. 'Dumbed-down rock anthems', founding member and rhythm guitarist Ben 'Fancy Pants' Hanson says, 'keeps our focus on the main thing: Having fun.' 'Fun cannot be faked, if you try to fake it, the audience can see right through that', says drummer Eric 'D-Nutz' Cole, 'so we really have to believe in what we do. It's not enough to talk about it or write it down on our website, we have to walk that walk, we have to live it!' Second front man Jay ' 1skinnyJ' Adams agrees. 'If we weren't having fun out there, I'd've quit the band a long time ago!' Lead guitarist Steven 'Captain Midnight' Houser believes in what MaximumSuck is doing as well, 'If I didn't' he says, 'I wouldn't be here, now would I?' Bassist Eggs Benedicto, Don's half-brother concurs. Although bordering on mute, he did manage a few grunts when asked if he believed in the band philosophy. MaximumSuck believes that kickin' house parties are more fun than sold-out stadiums, radio is over-rated and that the World Wide Rock Scene needs a kick in the ass.
