Maddok began in 2000 with guitarist James Smith and bassist Chris Scianna. After much trial and error with band lineups, they finally settled in with vocalist Andy Mellert and drummer Christian Zale.
Since then, the band has actively been playing shows it's local area and is starting to claim a following. Currently, Maddok is working on it's long-awaited and still unfinished debut album which should be out fall 2002.
The band's music draws from different influences, going as far back as the Beatles, up to more contemporary bands like Weezer and Green Day. Typical songs usually start off light, with wandering basslines and ringing guitars. The choruses simplify with thick distortion and pounding rhythms. All the while, lead singer Andy Mellert sings about the struggles of modern day interpersonal relationships, inner fears, and sometimes just flat out emotion.
Maddok's primary goal is to write the best songs they possibly can, and then deliver those songs in the best live show they can muster. Reinfornced by each member's individual energy and musicality, this is a goal they take seriously and promise to come through. Whether it be a deafening rock show or a stripped down acoustic set, you get 100% each time.
