Madam Madon began rapping at the age of fifteen. Now, 21, her flow and subject matter have both come full circle. Her lyrics are a gritty and truthful depiction of life in the nation's capitol, a city that's been misunderstood and very overlooked in the hiphop world.
The name Madam Madon represents the duality of the artist. The word 'Madam' commands respect, and conjurs the thought of someone wise beyond their years, while 'Madon' brings to mind purity. Madam Madon is both. She balances being a brand new mother of a baby boy, with being a boss and heavy-hitting lyricist. The turmoil and struggle involved with this comes across in the music, which is raw, and honest.
Within the last two years, the recognition and vision have grown rapidly for Madam Madon. Instead of pursuing a record deal with a major company, as she had before, Madon took an administative turn and decided to form her own organization. Not a rap group, D.C. Danger is a collection of graffiti artists, producers, and RnB and rap talent.
Madam Madon has been performing in her area, and making waves on the net with her mixtape flows and the D.C. anthems 'Bang Bang' and 'I've Waited.' She topped charts with both songs on Urscene Radio, an internet site that showcases mainstream music and talent from her area, and also Soundclick, with her 'Breathe' rmx. Her third mixtape, 'Volume III: D.C. Danger' will hit the streets in the fall, and she's working on an album due out in the spring of '06. I suppose it's fair to say that the chic that D.C. dubbed the 'Benning Road Bomber' is preparing for a takeover.
