MUSIC
Band Biography

  • From: Olympia, WA
  • No. of Members: 4
  • Year Established: 1996

The name Music came from the bands desire to limit preconceptions and the inability to categorize their sound, which makes it difficult to provide a band description in the space provided. Music plays music because that's what they enjoy doing most, even with the increasing difficulty of trying to get gigs from clubs that only want to hire ska bands that know a lot of 'Matchbox 20' covers, in Tommy Hilfiger gear and Lugs. It's hard to find a club that wants to here a band Jam a song like Wham's 'Careless Whisper' into an original like 'Get Freaky on That Ass(if you wanna git tha s***) or Educational Terrorism, then into Crimson and Clovers,' Snoop Dogg's 'What's My Name,' and then (after about 25min) end it off with 'When Doves Cry' or a Wesley Willis cover.

The members of the band MUSIC are Thomas 'O'Nuts' Jackson on guitar/vocals, MacDawg on keyboards/vocals, Lars Johnson on bass, and Jeremy Conoly on the drums. Although the band originates from Kent,Wa.(more specifically Covington AKA. the CVT), they are now primarily stationed in Olympia, Wa. They have over a hundred originals and do covers from anything from Tom Petty to Jimi Hendrix to Salt'N'Peppa.

A Music concert is an experience in itself. Back in the day, you might have seen somebody getting a free 'precision' haircut, break-dancing, Elvis impersonators, or a K-Car getting spray painted. Now-a-days you could win such prizes as a 1980 Toyota Carolla, with so many miles on it that the spedometer has flipped over, or the player of the year award.

If you're on the West Coast, it isn't all that unlikely that you run into Music trying to hook up concerts while sleeping in the odd spray painted Toyota and/or selling generically produced tapes of their band or any of the other multitude of tapes produced ghetto-style on their Low-Fi record label 'Krazed Up Records.' These include solo tapes, Eddie Shredder w/Leshpool Getty, A-Camp, Latex Babies, and K-Dawg albums, etc.
