Lyonnesse started in 1990 with founding members Jim Wall and E.G. McNaughton. They have been writing, learning, and teaching each other skills that have helped them better themselves.Lyonnesse has a potpourri of musical style. They have a sound that defies description. The closest they can come to a label is heavy alternative rock or creative alternative rock.

Lyonnesse won first place at the Wilkes College Band contest in 1994 and placed in the top 3 out of 27 in the WZXR Battle of the Bands contest.

Behind the name: Lyonnesse was a country that according to Arthurian legend was contiguous to Cornwall before sinking beneath the sea.
