Legion X is an extremely unique heavy metal band, not solely based on their powerful, intense drumbeats, their crushing yet melodic guitar riffs, and their spine-chilling vocals, but because of the band’s electrifying display of raw energy exhibited during their live performance.Since the idea of Legion X was conceived in 2000 by guitarists Roy Wilkerson and Luke Phillips, the purpose of the band was to testify that true metal was NOT dead, and to show those who thought it was dead what true metal was. In the following years, they adopted the talents of Chris Stone on drums, who put a vicious backbeat under the already heavy riffs. Then, in 2004, while holding auditions for a vocalist, the members came across the highly energetic Syd Howell. After Syd was brought in, he recommended the nonstop head banging battery of bass that is Kurtis Campbell. The band was finally complete, and it was time to unleash onto the world the awe-inspiring combination of the bands heavy songs and Syd’s in-your-face lyrics. The popularity and following of the band has grown at an ever-increasing rate since the band’s first live performance nearly two years ago. Due to unfortunate circumstances in late October 2004, Luke Phillips resigned from the band, and potent local guitarist Jake King was soon chosen to fill his position. After playing countless shows and traveling out-of-state for small tours, the band decided to dismiss Jake from Legion X in June of 2005. At this time, Chris also decided to leave the band for a short period, returning two months later. After a few shows as a four-piece, the band is now experimenting with rythym guitarist Doug Rosander to keep the strong riffs full and heavy. In the wake of all the changes, Legion X has become stronger, louder, and more determined than ever to spread their message. The extreme energy that the band shares with their audience is a true testament of the hard work, talent, and perseverance of Legion X.
